Proverbs 12:18
The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
I was taught that before we say something to others, we should ask our selves three questions.
Is it kind?
Is it necessary?
Is it true?
This works especially well when we are angry at someone and we just want to unload on them. I hope this will help you as it has helped me many times to not speak reckless words. Having self control is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. God help us to bring healing rather than destruction with our words.
amen..this a very difficult one
ReplyDeleteChizzy, it is and I can asure you I can't even recall how many times I have said things to people out of regreted it. However, the more older I get the less I allow my temper to have the best of me.
ReplyDeleteAnd really the more I read the Bible, the more it gets easier by just being submissive to the Holy Spirit and trusting Jesus to take control instead of me. The more time we spend in the word of God, the more we grow in the fruit and gift of self control. You will be fine, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
Blessings,
