Ephesians 6:24
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
This verse really opened my eyes to a truth about interacting with people in love. Although the verse is directed at loving Christ with an undying love, it also applies to our relations with others. What does it mean to love one another unconditionally or with an undying love?
It means that my love for others is not based on how they treat me. I never could grasp that concept before; being able to love someone without having “conditions” attached to that love. For example, if people did not treat me properly, I wasn't able to express my love towards them, because I was angry, feeling rejected or perhaps even disappointed.
My love was based on how they treated me. But because deep inside, I knew I truly loved them, I was able to learn how to express my love, even while I was still angry and upset with them, that is unconditional love. It's just the way we are as humans. Learn to forgive to start the journey of loving unconditionally just as Christ loves us.
Love, something that is easier said than done, but if God can love us, we should be able to love anyone. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteYes it is mostly easier said than done. However for me having faith and believe in the promises of God's word gives me the grace to strive above the impossiblity of my flesh. As believers, nothing in God's word is an imposibility for us because His grace is sufficient for us to do all things and that means absolutely everything. All we need is submission, trust and obedience to do exploits in Jesus name.
ReplyDeleteMy prayer for you Chizzy, in the new year is for you to learn to trust God more and take Him for His every word without staggering no matter how impossible it might seem in the eyes of the world and others around us.
God bless you,
