ALIVE IN CHRIST

Ephesians 2:4-5
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,  made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

We have been freed from a life of bondage - brought about by our transgressions or “violations” of God’s spiritual laws - is what “being saved” is all about. Jesus Christ has saved us from the law of sin and death. We were dead in our sins- no ifs or buts about it. My Pastor in the last few weeks has been teaching us in our Bible study group about the importance and the centrality of the Cross in our lives as Christians and what it means to our faith.

As Christians, it is important we don't ever lose sight of the importance and the validity of the Cross to our faith. Today's main scripture reminds us that the penalty of sin and it's power no longer has power over us becasue it was destroyed by Jesus Christ on the Cross for you and I. And through faith in Him you and I boldly stand acquitted, "not guilty" before God. Ephesians 2:6, "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus."

The truth is before we were saved, we were dead in sin and slaves to our sinful nature; but now God’s love takes our spirit that is dead because of sin and causes it to be alive other translations say "quickened"  with love, joy, peace and contentment in Christ. What a priceless gift!

Reflections:
Without the Cross our salvation means nothing - Never lose sight of that!

Power verses:
For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.--Luke 15:24

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.--Ephesians 1:3

God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.--2:32

For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.--Romans 6:14
