Hebrews 10:25
We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.
Do you ever need encouragement? Life can be tough and we all get discouraged. The fact is, to neglect Christian meetings is to give up the encouragement and help of other Christians. One of the benefits I have experienced personally is when I am in the gathering of other Christians, we share our faith and strengthen one another in Lord. We are never going to grow and mature in our Christian faith if we try to do it all alone. In general terms our lives aren't meant to lived in isolation.
I grew up in Accra in a little Army community called Burma Camp. Where everyone knew each other and our lives intertwined holding each other up. What a perfect picture of fellowship. We spread out, we intertwine, and we hold each other up. As we grow and get closer, we strengthen each other in good times and in difficult times. The Bible say is Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no-one to help him up!"
It's interesting but I hear some Christians trivialising meeting together as a church family and even to the extend of making all sorts of excuses for missing church services and the fellowship with other Christians. To them it is not a big deal neither is it a priority either. What a shame! They are simply unaware of how they can easily dry up spiritually whenever by missing fellowship with other Christians. In fact, we need to be in constant contact with other Christians, even beyond what we get on Sunday. We need more than just a Sunday fix.
Reflections:
As face though times ahead, difficulties should never be excuses for missing church services and fellowship with other Christians. Rather, as difficult times arise we should make an even greater effort to be faithful in attendance.
Power verses:
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.--Ecclesiastes 4:12
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.--Hebrews 3:13
A song of ascents. Of David. How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!--Psalm 133:1
