YOUR FIRST LOVE

Revelations 2:4-5

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

There are many things to consider in this verse, however what really hit my spirit is the phrase "you have forsaken your first love." I remember reading this scripture during my Bible study in the early days in 2009 when I had just returned back home like the prodigal daughter. I couldn't help it but break down in tears knowing how I had forsaken my first love (Jesus) and from the heights I had fallen from. All the years I had spent in bitterness, disobedience, anger, unfrogiveness and sin away from my First Love, Jesus!

The truth and the beauty of being in love and fallen in love is, we are able to commit and surrender our lives completely and totally without holding back. Making Him the the number one most important person in  our lives and in whatever we do with confidence and trust knowing that nothing can harm or snatch us away from His hands.

When we commit our lives to the Lord and fall in love with Him, in His eyes we are in high place. We do not have to strive to get there, we only have to love Him. How do you love Him?

The main scripture text today, indicates that we love Him less when He is less a part of our lives than He once was. Is the Lord more or less a part of your life today?

If you've fallen like I did for many years or even just for a little while, then make a decision today to put God first again. Ask for His forgiveness and He will meet you in a special way like He did for me fifteen months ago. Make every effort to read your Bible more, study it more, going for walks and just spending quality time together talking and getting to know Him building that special bond you once had again. Let Jesus be a part of everything that you do, don't leave Him out of anything!

Reflections:
Is Jesus Lord of your life?
Is there any area in your life you are struggling with? He is at the door of your heart knocking and waiting for you to let Him to prepare you a big feast crowing you with His everlasting love and His glory to show you much you are loved and have been missed.

Power verses:
"Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering."--- Hebrews 10:32

"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent."-- Revelation 3:19

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."-- Matthew 5:14-15
