I Give Myself Away by William McDowell

DO YOU KNOW JESUS?

Do you know Jesus Christ? Many have heard of Jesus and know a little about Him. Many sing songs about His birth at Christmas and know that Easter commemorates His resurrection. Some think of Him as a teacher or perhaps the founder of a major world religion. But, do you know Him personally? Do you know that Jesus died and rose again, not to start a spiritual movement, but because He loves you and wanted to provide a way for you to know Him?

The Bible tells the story of God's love for people. In the beginning, God created us to reflect His image and to have a relationship with Him (Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them). We were created good but sin entered the world and we essentially chose to try life on our own without God, instead of living our lives for God as we were designed.

God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to pay the price for our sins and bring us into a relationship with Him. Jesus' resurrection is proof that we are now accepted and made right by Jesus. We can know the promise of eternal life and experience the joy of knowing God here on earth!

If you would like to have a relationship with God, the Bible tells us that we begin by acknowledging that we have sinned and that there is nothing we can do to earn our way into God's love. Romans 3:23-26, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus."

We believe and confess that Jesus is Lord. Romans 10:9, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" and allow Him to guide our lives. Where we once wanted to control our own futures, we now allow Jesus into our hearts to be our Lord. Knowing God's peace, perspective, and purpose for your life begins with a personal relationship with Christ.

Bless you all!

GOD'S HEART

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

God’s desire is for us to care for the lonely. Jesus taught that he would leave the 99 to go and get the lonely one who has

gone astray. Can you think of others who may be lonely besides widows and orphans? We have a lot of homeless people in

my borough. Many of the homeless men and woman I have talked to are very lonely. Nursing homes are filled with widows and

people who have been forgotten. Divorce creates loneliness; as well as the death of a loved one. When I reflect on my own

life the most painful emotional times, have been when I felt lonely. God has given us his promise that he will never leave us

and he has also given the Holy Spirit to comfort us. Consider being a friend to the lonely today.

NO MIDDLE ROAD

James 4:4

".....Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."

Revelation 3:16
So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth

The Lord desires that we would belong to Him completely. All He needs is a willing person to say “Lord , I want to live a life for you, help me.” As we make this sincere choice we turn away from the things of the world and do our best to walk with God. There is no middle road the path is narrow not broad, you are either hot or cold, a friend or an enemy. It is the heart that the Lord sees. Examine your life today, does God have your whole heart?

BLESSED AND SATISFIED

Matthew 5:6(Amplified)

Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied!

There is a way of living for God that brings His blessings of spiritual prosperity. To hunger and thirst for Jesus is hungering and thirsting for righteousness. He is the one who makes us righteous and puts us in right standing with God. Seeking God's way and trying to be obedient to His guidelines, is also hungering and thirsting for righteousness. To do what is righteous, means to not do what we know to be wrong. Making right choices based on our God's word will bring the Lords blessings. The only way to understand Christian faith and beliefs is to pursue knowing them, that’s the type of desire that Jesus is talking about.

VICTORY

2 Chronicles 20:21-22

After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of His holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the LORD, for His love endures forever." As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.

We can have the victory over the troubles in our lives if we fight the battle God’s way. When we sing and praise the Lord we are releasing a spiritual weapon on our behalf to fight the enemy for us. Notice that when they began to sing and praise, that is when God began to bring the victory. This is not just a story, it is a major truth in God's kingdom. Sing and praise the Lord today and expect victory over what ever you may be struggling with in life.

HEALING

Isaiah 53:4-5

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Jesus Christ experienced every pain humanly possible during the suffering He endured on the way to the cross and while on the cross. He was taking upon Himself all of our infirmities so that we could be free from them and by His wounds be healed. You will find many accounts in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John where Jesus healed people. The Bible says that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is still the healer!
